Dear Superintendent Dr. James Tenbusch, 

This is an appeal under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. I am appealing the action of Ted Brooks, FOIA Compliance Officer, dated June 7, in response to my Freedom of Information request dated May 30, 2006. 

I enclose copies of my request and the response. The request that were denied are as follows:

1.	Check registers for each year corresponding to the audited budgets.

2.	List of all payments made to retired and currently retiring teachers and 
administrators during the final 4 years of district employment since 2001.
The denial of my request was unjustified under the Freedom of Information Act for the following reasons:

Item 1:  An extension to the time required is acceptable to me.  This same information cannot be an undue burden since other schools districts within Lake County provide this same information under FOIA requests.

Item 2: Information available in the teachers’ contract is a general obligation available to all retiring teachers.  It does not provide the specific information requested about teachers who have and are currently retiring.
